So yes: Kevin, the Fat Manatee, came to New Orleans to help Habitat for Humanity, and while he was down here we all spent some time together. Above is, so far as we know, the largest New Orleans / BR Tumblr meet-up ever recorded: me, Will, Syd, DHK, and Kevin. We left an empty chair for John Brissenden, Elijah-style.
I had a difficult time choosing a representative photo; below and here, Kevin enjoys some time in the Southern Gothic Garden District home of my friend Eric, which happened to be filled with historic guns such as a rifle Faulkner used (which I’m holding):
As one should in New Orleans, we balanced the tourist and non-tourist activities, going to both Pat O’Brien’s and the Saturn Bar for example; we also visited the zoo (apologies to Bunnynico), where Kevin and I posed with an albino alligator:
I’ve put up a photoset here, which has some fairly amusing shots in it, and hope to add the many short videos we took sooner or later. Kevin is enormously fun; I highly recommend inviting him to your city, although for his sake don’t force as much food into his face as we did.
