My deceased maternal grandmother’s primary attempt to connect with me was through taping dozens of episodes of this show (in pre-Tivo days, this was labor) and giving them to me, which makes it rather emotionally charged for me. She wasn’t really able to meaningfully interact with us (or with my parents) otherwise, so this stands as a strange pop-culture gesture without peer in our relationship, which was short.
