Art Tatum- ‘Yesterdays.’ Tatum is commonly referred to as the greatest jazz pianist in history, a claim so frequent it’s noted by Wikipedia.
It’s hard to meaningfully discuss an assertion like that, but Tatum -a nearly blind prodigy who died in 1956- is astonishing. Check out his famous and almost absurd ‘Elegy’ (sound only) or him playing Dvorak.
