Notes
Some observations I will refrain from processing into meaningful coherence:
- I rented something called a Toyota Avalon, and although I dislike cars and driving, I’ve found it to be such a nice vehicle that I’m thinking about stealing it and taking it home, rather than setting it on fire and pushing it off of a bridge (which I hoped to do to my last rental).
- My hotel room, needlessly large, has two televisions, one of which hangs over the desk looking down at me reproachfully, as if it’s my fault everything it shows is bullshit.
- There are scary places in the South; Flomaton, AL, is one of them.
- I can function professionally without food for more than 24 hours at a time, I’ve learned; if you don’t eat for 24 hours, you’re not very hungry by the time you finally do. It remains to be seen where this leads, but I believe it’s a promising development.
- Businessmen can tell I’m not a businessman, but they don’t seem to hold it against me; indeed, they often seem condescendingly solicitous when they learn of my liberal arts background, as though -now that I’m not a threat- I deserve their pity and help. I probably do, so that’s fine.
