When Tim Shey noted that he couldn’t watch that video without emotion, I silently agreed; there was something so terribly vulnerable about -and pardon the pretension as I try to get at this- a solitary man nakedly confronting time, horrible time in a sickening torrent of empty moments, that it was not so much the elevator as a problem of height as it was the elevator as a deprivation chamber that terrified me.
Forty one hours of waking solitude, discomfort, and persistent mortal anxiety: it’s like a condensed course in de-civilizing stressors. This article is awesome, but it fills me with dread at points, too.
